Do you think she knows something I know something about?

“If you have to ask someone to change, to tell you they love you, to bring wine to dinner, to call you when they land, you can't afford to be with them.”

“It's never good to fall in love with someone whom you'd have to stab in the eyeballs to elicit a response.”

― Sloane Crosley, How Did You Get This Number

Everyone has their story.

I haven't read the new Sloane book, but I read the first one. I'm looking forward to catching up. The quotes certainly caught my attention. In my previous life as a devoted and monogamous married woman, I believed in digging deeply into the reservoirs of love and patience to surmount all the continuous challenges of relationship. It was only after 20 years that I reached the end of my patience, and asked WHY. And discovered to my surprise that my EX wasn't the prince he pretended to be to put up with me--instead there were nicer people out there who were delighted to be with me. Now I'm advising people not to stick it out if their marriage drags on without getting better, if they aren't receiving a reasonable amount of love in return. Life is short.
